Usage limits
The 5h / 7d meters
Two bars in a chat's status line show how full Claude's 5-hour and 7-day usage limits are. Glance at them before a big task, and click them to see which tabs are using the limits fastest.

Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”Hover for the exact numbers
Rest the pointer on the meters and a tooltip gives each limit’s percent used, how long until it resets, and the day and time it does.
A red countdown means the reset is close
The time beside each bar counts down to its reset by itself. Its colour shows how much of the window has passed, not how full the limit is: red means it resets soon, so a nearly full bar will be empty again shortly.
The context bar: how full this chat is
The smaller bar to the left shows how much of this conversation’s context window is used. Click it for a breakdown: the system prompt, tools, memory files, messages and the space left before it compacts.
